ROBERT BOUCHARD

2006 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

Bob coached high school swimmers for nearly thirty years leading teams to division titles and over 190 dual meet victories.

In 1979, he initiated a swim team at Our Lady of Providence. He coached the team during its third season to a division title. Bob was head coach from 1989 to 2000 at Cranston East. His team held the Division B title for five straight years and won 65 consecutive dual meets. Bob has coached 11 All State swimmers and hundreds of All Division and All Class swimmers. His team was runner-up for the State title twice.

In 1993, Bob successfully ran the Division B Championships, the forerunner of today’s Class Championships. He has served as president of the Rhode Island Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association.

His swimming career started at the Olneyville Boys Club. Bob continued on at LaSalle Academy where he was selected captain his senior year, and then on to the University of Rhode Island. Bob has continued to compete in triathlons including the Hawaiian World Iron Man in 1990.

 Bob also coaches high school cross-country, tennis and outdoor track. Bob lives in Greenville with his wife Joyce and their children Brittany, Cory and Connor.
