Irene McCann

Irene’s extraordinary contribution and service to competitive swimming is widely known and appreciated by numerous swimmers, parents, and coaches. She was president of the Narragansett Swim League for 20 years, and secretary of the Rhode Island Swim Coaches and Officials Association from 1969 to 1980 (Junior League). Irene directed the committee that sent a team of R.I. All-Star Swimmers to England, and later to Pointe Claire, Canada, in the early 1970’s. Because of her unselfish dedication, this amiable lady had a tremendous influence on the continuing success of age-group swim competition here in Rhode Island.
