RAY GANDY
2010 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME
Ray has made a name for himself in Masters and Open Water swimming becoming the first Rhode Islander to cross the English Channel in August 2009.
Ray’s accomplishments on the Masters circuit include: 15 Top Ten National Swims and 6 time All-American status. His open water triumphs include:
Top Ten finisher Save the Bay Swim 2001 to current
Third place in 8 mile Lake Champlain swim 2001 and 2002
Top Male finisher 15 mile Long Island Sound 2003
Third Place 24 mile Tampa Bay swim 2005
Third Place Men’s Pro Event 25 mile Lake George 2007
Eleventh Place OWS Grand Prix Pro Event 20 mile Lake Memphremagog 2007
First Place 8 mile Boston Light 2007 and 2008
First, Second, and Third Place finish 10k Flat River in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Ray raises money in his swimming events for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of RI (LLS).
