ANDREW CARDILLO

2015 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

 

Andrew Cardillo was an outstanding Rhode Island Age Group Swimmer often winning RI Junior League All Star backstroke and butterfly events.  As a member of the East Side YMCA, Andrew was honored with the East Side YMCA Mind, Body, and Spirit Award.  At the United States Swimming level Andrew earned New England top ten finish standings on numerous occasions in multiple events while swimming for the Cumberland Area Swim Team.  He was a member of the New England Long Course Zone team.  During his high school years Andrew competed for the Hendricken High School Swim Team where he was named Captain in his senior year.  During all of his four years the Hawks won the Rhode Island Interscholastic State Championships.  In his junior and senior years, Andrew was the 200 yard individual medley champion, the 100 yard butterfly champion, and a member of both winning relays and broke the Rhode Island State Interscholastic 100 yard butterfly record during his senior year.  In 1995 Andrew was named the Rhode Island Interscholastic Coaches Association Swimmer of the Year.  After high school Andrew attended Northeastern University.
