ANNE IACOBUCCI WITTI

2016 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

 

            Anne competed for the Little Rhode Aquatic Club, the Bruins Swim Club and for Lincoln High School while competing in Rhode Island and New England swimming.  As an age group swimmer, Anne was a record holder in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 yard butterfly in both Rhode Island and New England United States Swimming.  Anne was selected to the Zone teams and her times ranked her in the top ten national record standing for the 13 and 14 age group.  In addition, she qualified and competed at numerous Junior Nationals.  In 1993, placing 4th in the 200 IM and 7th in the 400 IM, Anne qualified for Senior Nationals.  Her 200 IM time broke a long standing New England record held by Jenny Thompson.  Later in her career (1994) Anne qualified for World Championship trials in both the 200 IM and 400 IM.

            At Lincoln High School, Anne was the Most Valuable Swimmer (MVP) at the Bay View Invitational, an Interscholastic All State Selection three times and Captain of the team during her Senior Year.  She is a former state record holder in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley events.  In 1995, Anne led the Lincoln Lions to the State Championship title.

            After Lincoln High School, Anne attended and competed for Notre Dame in Big East Competition.  During her four years at Notre Dame, a three time Big East Championship team, Anne was a Big East Finalist all four years and Notre Dame Team Captain in her senior year.  For her talent and hard work, Anne was an award recipient of two distinguished awards; The Beeler Hipp Award for Sportsmanship and The Most Honorable Swimmer Award.
