2007 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

 

Beth’s Rhode Island swimming career spans several years. She was an accomplished age group swimmer for the Little Rhody Aquatic Club and the Bruin Swim Club. She continued as a standout swimmer at Lincoln High School from 1988-1992. She was the holder of six school records at Lincoln High School In 1991, Beth was named All-State in the 200 and the 200 Free Relay. The following year, as captain of her team, she achieved All-State in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Beth went to college at the University of Rhode Island where she proved to be a consistent, dominant force over the next four- years. In 1993, she was named the Outstanding RI Female Freshman Athlete of the Year at URI. During her freshman and sophomore years, she was the New England Champion in the 500 and 1650 freestyle events. She was ECAC champion in the 1650 as a freshman. Beth was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer all four years at URI. She earned the Most Points in a Season Award in three out of her four years. In 1995 she received the prestigious Citizens Bank Endowed Scholarship for her possession of role model qualities in addition to her outstanding athletic talent. As a senior, she also earned the Kay Fromer New England Swimmer of the Year Award given to the top New England Championship point scorer over four years.

Upon graduation, Beth held school records in the 400 1M, 400 Medley relay, 500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle. At this time, she continues to hold the records in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events.

Beth earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1996 and has worked as a business manager for the past seven years. She resides in Johnston with her husband Tim and children McGovern and Sadie.
