2016 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

 

Carl began his swimming career at the Pawtucket Boys Club and later at Tolman High School. During his age group and high school years Carl won many events and several times was a finalist in- State Championship Meets swimming the 50 and 200 free as well as the 100 fly.

Though during his personal swimming career Carl was an outstanding age group swimmer and high school swimmer, Carl is being honored By the Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of Fame primarily for his outstanding coaching accomplishments at the Cumberland Lincoln Boys and Girls Club, Sher-Le-Mon Swim Club and Lincoln Senior High School. Carl is credited with developing numerous outstanding age group and high school swimmers, many of whom received their starts competing for him in the Narragansett Swim League. Under Carl’s leadership, the Sher-Le-Mon Swim Team won twelve (12) Narragansett Swim League championship titles and seven of those were consecutive from 1989 to 1995. At the CLBGC he took team members to the next level, moving beyond local RI League competition to success at leadership, the Sher-Le-Mon Swim Team won twelve (12) Narragansett Swim League championship titles and seven of those were consecutive from 1989 to 1995. At the CLBGC he took team members to the next level, moving beyond local RI League competition to success at the USA Swimming New England level.   His athletes continually praised his ability to teach, coach and motivate them as being the keys to their successes. Carl presently is an Associate Athletic Director of Athletics at Providence College.
