CHRISTINE HAGUE

2014 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

 

     Christine Hague is being inducted into the Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of fame for her outstanding years of service as a swimming coach, American Red Cross instructor, and for her leadership in the field of aquatics in Rhode Island for more than forty-two years. During her aquatic tenure, Chris has coached many Rhode Island age group champions, record holders and national qualifiers. Most recently, Chris coached her South Kingstown High School girls to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Girls’ Championship. In 2013 Chris was named the National Federation of High Schools State Coach of the Year.

     She has dedicated her life to a career in water safety as well. Chris was the first civilian woman instructor for the United States Navy as a Water Survival Training instructor and as a supervisor. Chris has served as a supervisor for the Navy from 1978 to 2013. Her leadership positions in Rhode Island included executive positions for the Rhode Island Swim Coaches and Officials Association, Past President of the Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of Fame (nine years), and Safety Services Committee member for the American Red Cross.
