1990 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

Prominent age group, interscholastic, and college swimmer in the 1965-1975 era.

Dave represented the Kendbrin Swim Club, Barrington YMCA, Barrington High School, and Bowdoin College during his brilliant swimming career.

He was named the Rhode Island Swimmer of the Year in 1969 and 1970 by the R.I. Swimming Coaches and Officials Association, and was selected to the Providence Journal Bulletin All State Swim Team three consecutive years (1970-1971-1972).  Dave set two R.I. records during this time, in the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard backstroke.

At Bowdoin College under coach Charlie Butt, Dave set several school records in the I.M. and backstroke.  His 100 yard backstroke record still stands.  In 1073, 1974, and 1975, Dave attained NCAA All-American status in Division II and Division III for his times in the 100 yard backstroke, 200 yard backstroke, 200 yard individual medley, and the medley and freestyle relays.

He received the Bowdoin College outstanding swimmer award while competing as the captain of the 1974-1975 team.
