2006 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

Jerry competed for the Olneyville Boys Club and LaSalle Academy in the 1950’s. In 1956, Jerry enrolled in the Williston Academy and competed there for one year.

As an age group swimmer Jerry won many events. During his senior year at LaSalle Academy his achievements became noticed. Jerry was undefeated in the individual medley, 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. As co-captain, he led his team to an undefeated season, the State Championship title, New England Title and the National Catholic Championship. In 1956, the Rhode Island Swim Coaches and Officials Association named him Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Year.

Jerry attended the University of Connecticut. In the individual medley, Jerry was a finalist in both the New England Intercollegiate Championship and the Eastern Seaboard Collegiate Championship. During his senior year he was co-captain of the team.

Jerry continued his involvement in swimming after college by coaching in the Narragansett Swim League for the Abbot Run Valley swim team. He also became an official with the RI Swim Coaches and Officials Association.
