HENRY BURROWS
1989 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME
Henry has devoted over 25 years to the sport of swimming. He has officiated at nearly all levels of competition including AAU Age Group, YMCA, U.S. Swimming, Interscholastic, Collegiate, and Masters.
Henry has also instructed age group swimmers for the Cranston Swim Club and the Brown Swim Club, as well as serving in an executive capacity on many swimming organizations in Rhode Island and New England.
He has volunteered his services as a chaperone and official to the Rhode Island Swim Coaches and Officials Association during All-Star meets in Montreal and England. Henry has been an active member of the R.I. Interscholastic Swim Officials Association for 22 years, officiated in the Eastern Massachusetts high school swim league, and acted as a starter and referee for Brown University, Providence College and U.R.I. dual meets.
Henry has participated as an official at the USS Junior National Championships, NCAA National Championships, and the International Masters Meet in New Zealand in 1984.
His contribution to the sport of competitive swimming has been an extraordinary outpouring of generosity and time.
Henry Burrows joins his son, Richard, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.
