SUSAN PERGOLA CLARK

2007 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

Sue (Pergola) Clark was an accomplished age group, high school and college swimmer while representing Cumberland Area Swim team, Cumberland High School and Boston College. She was the Rhode Island Senior champion in the 100, 200 Fly and 100 Free. Rhode Island records were captured by Sue for her swims (l 1 -12 50 and I00 fly, 13-14 200 fly and open 200 fly). During high school, she won the 100 fly and 100 back at the Rhode Island State Interscholastic championship meet. She was named to the Journal Bulletin All State team (multiple years) and was a multiple Providence Journal star of the week.  Regionally, she was the New England (USS) champion in the 100 and 200 fly. She participated on the New England Zone All Star Team placing in 6 events. Her fast swims earned her eight New England “Top Ten” Awards from 1986-1989.

Nationally, in 1986 and 1987 while aged 13-14 Sue qualified and competed at the National Junior Olympics in Florida.

Sue earned an athletic scholarship to Boston College, swimming all four years. She was a varsity letter winner and contributed to successes in Regional and Big East Championships each year.

Sue resides in Tewksbury Massachusetts with her husband Robert and children Bobby, McKenzie, Riley and Matthew.
