2010 INDUCTION TO THE RHODE ISLAND AQUATIC HALL OF FAME

Bill represented the Providence YMCA and Cranston Swim Club as an age group swimmer. He set many state records in the 50 yard Breast.  As a member of the Cranston Swim Club Medley Relay, Bill set records in the 100 and 200 Medley Relays at the 11-12 and 13-14 Age Group Championships. He was honored by the RI Swim Coaches and Officials Association as Swimmer of the Year for his respective age group.

While attending LaSalle Academy, Bill was a record setter and champion. He set many interscholastic records at the Brown Interscholastic Swim Championship and the RI State Championship meets. During high school, Bill competed in the New England Interscholastic and the National Catholic Swim Championships. He earned Interscholastic All State Honors and was named to the RI Coaches and Officials All Star Team. In 1960 Bill qualified and competed at the National Senior Championships at Yale. Bill attended Worcester Academy where he earned the Most Valuable Swimmer Award and captained the team.

Bill swam at Norwich University setting and holding many collegiate records in the breaststroke events, named Team Captain and Most Valuable Swimmer. Bill won the 100 Breast at the Small College Championships. He set the University 200 yard Breaststroke record which remained unbroken for many years.
